41,000 cameras and approximately 5,200 plate recognition systems have been offered to the use of police forces as part of the Urban Security Management System and License Plate Recognition System Project.
Technological opportunities that enable police forces to perform their tasks more effectively and are being improved.
Urban Security Management Systems and License Plate Recognition Systems are installed in all provinces and districts of Turkey in order to contribute to counter-terrorism, public order and security in line with the needs of Turkish National Police. In addition, peripheral imaging systems are installed in order to establish a safe educational environment in schools.
Moreover, thanks to domestic software, Turkish National Police has now the ability to manage all systems from a single system.
The Security Management System and License Plate Recognition System Project that is run by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) with the main contracting service of ASELSAN will be further expanded next year.
As part of the project, a total of 41,000 cameras and approximately 5,200 plate recognition systems have been installed. The systems were commissioned and offered to the use of police forces. To ensure that the systems are spread nationwide, a new contract has been signed with ASELSAN for an additional package prepared based on additional requirements of the Turkish National Police.
With this supplementary contract, 3,256 fixed and 875 mobile cameras, 221 Plate Recognition Systems, 84 Laser PTZs and 2 thermal cameras will be supplied and delivered to the Turkish National Police by the end of 2019.
The systems will get smarter, getting the ability to analyze
As part of the Security Management System and License Plate Recognition System Project and with the use of high resolution cameras, important benefits have been gained with a view to solve acts of terrorism and security incidents faster and more effectively, increase success rates in plate recognition and detection of twin plates, and manage all systems from a single center through a centralized software.
Also, a video analysis system is being developed to provide significant results from the video footage obtained from “City Security Management Systems” and will contribute to the security forces to solve the incidents faster. In this way, it is aimed to increase the contribution of systems to public order and security by using intelligent software that can make analysis of people, objects, crowds, extraordinary situations and traffic.
The Presidency of Defense Industries continues successful installation of systems in provinces, districts and schools as part of the 100-Day Action Plan that was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
SSB is working on system installations at all locations that are needed to contribute to public order and security, and taking all measures to ensure that the systems operate smoothly and with high performance.
